SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

If you are new to a city, the Thrifty staff will be happy to assist you and provide directions or maps of the area. Traveling in a new city or area can sometimes create anxiety because of unfamiliarity with the locale. The following tips are meant as guidelines and Thrifty Car Rental urges you to use your best judgment in any particular situation.

a) Before leaving the rental center, be sure you know the route to your destination. If you must ask directions, ask a police officer or find a well-lighted public place. Stay out of high crime areas even if it means going out of your way.

b) When you pick up the car, review it and tell the operator about damages and where something is missing, because any damage or loss will be charged to you.

c) Have driver's license with you at all time.

d) If you are threatened with a gun or knife, give up your car immediately and report the incident to police and the rental car company.

e) Keep doors and windows locked and keep your valuables locked in the trunk or glove compartment. Do not carry large amounts of cash. Do not pick up hitchhikers. Do not leave anything in the car in sight.

f) Always park in well-lighted areas. If stopping to buy gas, to use a pay phone or to use an automatic teller machine (ATM), choose well-lighted, busy locations.

g) If possible, avoid using an ATM at night.

h) Never leave your car unattended with the engine running.

i) When walking toward a parked car, be aware of your surroundings and check the interior of the vehicle before unlocking the doors. Have your keys in hand and ready when approaching your vehicle.

j) "Hoy no Circula" Program: This program is for people in Mexico City, which indicates they are not allowed to drive one day per week, depending on the last number of its plates.

k) Speed limit for city driving is 60 km/hr.

l) Obligatory use of Seat Belt.

m) Check the water, oil and temperature of the car.

WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF ACCIDENT?

a)      Notify the office where you rented the car.

b) Please wait for our personnel who will come to assist you. Meanwhile, do not accept any help from strange people interested in "negotiations".

c) Fill out an accident report at the Thrifty office upon returning the car.

d) When reporting an accident to Thrifty, give the following information:

·        Place of accident

·        Type of automobile (Plates, color, brand, etc.)

·        Rental agreement number (Exclusively to Thrifty)

DRIVE CAREFULLY!

* Please keep the copies of your agreement, they must be returned with the car at the end of your rental.
