Leon is the industrial, cattleman, commercial and transport center of a rich agricultural region and it has the industrial producer area of the biggest footwear of Mexico.

Other industries are centered in the production of flour and the factory of textile. Its main products are wheat, corn, onion, bean and peach, and also breeding of pig livestock and cattle. In their vicinities there are mines of gold, silver and copper.
