BEACHES
- Playa
del Carmen is attractive for its turquoise-colored water and tropical
atmosphere. It has five star hotels, rustic cabins, craft stores,
boutiques and restaurants.

Akumal is located approximately 70 miles to the
south of the airport of Cancun. "El Caballo Bayo" has a natural
reef at its entrance and a snorkeling area, which is world famous.

Chetumal is the capital of the state. It is located
in the southern part of Quintana Roo, and it is only a few minutes
from the border with Belice. The peninsula of "Xcalak" is located
on the southeast of the bay of Chetumal. It possesses virgin beaches
where cabins and "palapas" are available. On the coast is located
"Chinchorro" shoal, cemetery of many sunken crafts and a paradise
for divers.
- Isla Mujeres is available
for snorkeling. It has beautiful underwater views to contemplate.
It also has a rustic fisherman's village with small back streets that
invite you to take peaceful walks.

Cozumel s the biggest island of the coast of
Mexico. It is located amid the turquoise waters of the Caribbean
and surrounded by one of the most beautiful reefs on the planet.
Well know as an "Island of the swallows", Cozumel offers incomparable
waters for diving and for world-class sport fishing. Vestiges
of Mayan civilization are also easily accessible by horseback,
by car and within walking distances.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL RUINS
- Tulum offers one of the most impressive archaeological
sites of the Mayan World. It is built on a cliff that is over
the Caribbean Sea. There are more than 60 structures inside the
wall that surrounds Tulum, the most important being the Castle.
It is protected by a great wall on one side and the sea on the
other. This city was a center of trade from which the products
of other Caribbean towns were transported to many distant parts
of Mexico .
- Chichén Itza was once
a Mayan city where the Indians built temples and monuments including
the well-know pyramid "The Castle", "The Snail" observatory, the
site for ball games, and the structure known as "The Thousand Columns".
In the spring, one can observe the form of a mythological viper,
cast by a shadow on the steps of the pyramid that represents the
god "Kukulcan".

Cobá: Hidden in the undergrowth, has "sacbes"
(white roads) and other constructions that you'll enjoy exploring.
There were more than 50 of these roads, and the longest was apparently
important not only commercially but politically. Unlike other
Mayan cities of the Yucatan Peninsula, Coba remained inhabited
after the conquest by the Spaniards.

In Uxmal there is one of the most important constructions
called "El Divino" pyramid. The panoramic view from the summit
of the pyramid is very beautiful. In order to reach it, it is
necessary to go up a 35 meter staircase. The ornamentation along
the way displays a figure-head of the god of the rain and other
interesting artifacts.
NATURAL ATTRACTIONS
- In Xcaret you will find a small archaeological
area that was part of the Mayan port of Pole, a beautiful creek
(ideal for snorkeling), dolphins, an aviary and a museum. You
can also enjoy activities at night. Another attraction is an underground
river with crystalline waters.

Xel-Ha is the biggest natural aquatic park in
the world. On a land of calcareous ground, nature has formed incredible
caves, creeks and lagoons in the area of the park. This natural
aquarium is fed by the waters both the ocean and underground springs.
The fish of the Caribbean Seas takes refuge in these waters, and
they come close to the swimmers who witness an incomparable show.
There are platforms for diving into the natural reservoirs.
